A teenage girl who balked at paying for a set of inch-long, pumpkin-orange fake fingernails in a dispute at a Mount Vernon nail salon said a nail technician grabbed her and tried to pry the nails off. The 48-year-old technician told the Skagit Valley Herald that the dispute was strictly verbal.

Teen friends playing 'car tag' arrested in Arizona

Two teenage friends playing a game of "car tag" were arrested after a sheriff's deputy spotted them driving erratically. Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said the deputy saw a Chevrolet truck driving just one foot behind a Ford truck, cross over the double yellow line and drive up next to the other truck at about 50 mph.

Police in Syracuse said a woman who was annoyed that a police car was blocking her own car first called 911 and then vandalized the squad car. Police said the woman called 911 Saturday to report the "emergency" _ that a patrol car was blocking her car. They said she then keyed the patrol car because they didn't move it quickly enough.

Oahu firefighters cause blaze at own fire station

Oahu firefighters have been issued a reminder to be sure to turn off cooking equipment when responding to emergencies. The advice comes in the wake of a May 22 blaze at the Waipahu fire station that caused about $25,000 damage. Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said food was inadvertently left cooking on a stove when the firefighters responded to an emergency call involving a traffic accident.
