Swiss Multi-Tool a dud

Rating: 1 (2009-01-03)

This tool is very well made, no doubt. It is poorly engineered. I have both the Leatherman Wave and this Swiss Tool. As a farmer, the most used tool is the cutting blade. To get it out I have to have strong fingernails of the right length and use two bare hands. This is totally an annoyance, to drop what one is doing and get bare handed to operate the most used blade is not well thought out. Using the Wave, I can open the most used blades with gloved, one hand operation. It seems like a small thing but in everyday use, the Wave wins hands down. The Swiss Tool engineers should field test their product in real world use. I now use it for a letter opener.

The best multi-tool I've used.

In the world of technical theater, almost everyone carries a multi-tool, and I've used most of them. I got my first SwissTool in 1998 and have yet to find one I liked better. The tools can be accessed without first opening the pliers. Each tool has an individual spring so that when you open a tool only that one comes out. The thumb lock is easy to use and sturdy. To me the full size and very solid phillips screwdriver is the biggest plus. The only downsides are the weight and the bluntness of the pliers. The first is an acceptable trade off for such a solid tool however.

The best multitool I've ever used

Rating: 5 (2008-11-03)

I received this multitool as a gift two years ago from my mother-in-law, and it has been the best knife I've ever owned. It's held up to two years of active duty military use on a daily basis, including seven months in Afghanistan, without any breakage on any of the components. It's noticeably heavier than the average Gerber; maybe that's why it's held up better. All I've had to do to it has been clean it and resharpen the edge about once every other month, and it's held up great. I love it and recommend it to all of my associates.

Great quality, super sharp

I like this multi-tool a lot. I took it camping in the grand canyon and tried the knives, can opener and a screwdriver. All worked very well. I even cut myself with the knife. You really need to be careful with the blades they are extremely sharp. I'm really impressed with the quality, but since it's from Victorinox I'm not really surprised.

Exelent

If you like tools, and like swiss army knife you must have one of this series. Obviusly is not for a work shop but it's an excelent help in the field. And it came with a belt bag.
