This is my first complaint to Amazon. I purchased this GustBuster umbrella within the past two months and only used it once. I was opening it to show it off to a friend and the top cap broke off for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, I cannot return it because the Amazon return window has expired. After reading other Amazon reviews with the same complaint, I called GustBuster. They agreed to waive the $10.00 repair fee (shipping and handling) "per Steve Asman" (the CEO of the company). I mentioned the other complaints on the Amazon website and the person I spoke with said he "would get to the bottom of this". This all sounds good, but I still have to pay the cost to ship to Gustbuster and am now concerned that I purchased an inferior product. With the economy the way it is, I cannot afford to replace this product should it continue to malfunction.
I will revise this review with any further developments.

Nice well made umbrella, but somehow one of the spokes popped out of the catch within my first month of use, so not perfect.

Seems well constructed. It stood the test in a 20 mph wind. I think it will hold up to the strong winds off Lake Erie.

Just received my gustbuster metro 43 and upon opening the umbrella I was a little surprised at how small it seemed (I was replacing a large 49" diameter totes). The metro measures 32" in diameter. Upon calling Gustbuster I found out their formula for size is something like the collapsed ribs times two which I supposed is the measurement from the expanded umbrella tip to tip over the top arc. A little misleading to the novice. Anyway, other than being small, the umbrella seems sturdy and well
made. Just don't expect large coverage.

This is the second Gustbuster umbrella I have purchased. I originally purchased the 48" umbrella, but discovered I also needed one that could fit in my backpack. I have abused a multitude of umbrellas over the years in such windy locations as Colorado, the Texas Gulf Coast, Vermont, and the Northwest. All of them have succumbed to the wind, rain and generally abuse. The Gustbuster umbrellas, however, have held up to all the trauma I and my children have put them through. The decorative feral on the end of the 48" did break off, but it has not affected the umbrella in any real sense. The 43" metro fits in a backpack, but will not fit in a most purses. It does include a strap for carrying. These are attractive and sturdy umbrellas, well worth the cost.
