Please update Map

Rating: 4 (2008-11-22)

I had an original OEM Magellan 4250 which I loved until the on/off button became unworkable after 4 months and I returned the unit. I like the AAA feature, which makes it easy to find a recommended restaurant when you're traveling in an unfamiliar place. This is a huge advantage. AAA is better than just the list of POI's (restaurants) by type or alphabetically found on (most) other GPS devices. The other features on the 4250 are excellent- voice, turning instructions, etc. (I wish you could more easily enter lat/longitude coord-- you have to enter via your computer with a special program.)

Updated maps. I would point out that the refurb version of the Garmin 680 includes NEW 2009 maps; whereas, this refurb Magellan 4250 gives you older maps and you must pay $80 or so to get a new map set. (I base this on what other reviewers say about the Magellan maps. Maybe this will change as time passes.)

GPS Purchase

Amazon actually supplied more in this kit than was advertised. The unit and accessories all appeared brand new. I was able to get an extended warranty through SquareTrade. Overall this was an exceptional deal.

Rating: 4 (2008-11-22)

The magelan 4250 gps is excellent. After learning how to use the machine, I had very little problems with programming the various destinations. The only negative aspect about the refurbished GPS is that the maps are out of date. They are approximately two years old. I contacted Magellan and they told me I would have to purchase an update at a cost of $79.95. My feelings were that since they refurbished the unit, it should have current maps.

2 out of 6 didn't work - don't waste your time on refurbs - it's not worth the hassle

Fair Price and Product

Rating: 4 (2008-11-21)

I am first time user who read as many reviews as I could to see which one would fit both my need and finance. I have tried to compare and contrast and finally decided to pick Magellan 4250. Of course, the price was so attractive and placed the order. When it arrived, it was mailed a kind of brand new Magellan with all the accessories which I was not aware of it. Wow! That was cool. The accessories cost almost half of the price I paid for the Magellan. I opened it right away and found its friendly-use so good and hit the road without doing anything and found it works!!! Well, so far I have been using it and have no problem at all. For $129.00 this is a great buy. One minor problem I have so far is, it sometimes get confused when conversation takes place and reminds you to say a command when you actually did not even send a voice command. I just want to let you know that the voice command works great but it sometimes might make you speak a little louder; for $129.00 buy, let Magellan be a deaf once in a blue moon. I hope I don't mean to be generous to give 4 stars but, I am convinced it deserves.
