The Jawbone 2 is the next step in the integration of best-in-class noise elimination technology with personal design that is both humanistic and minimal. It has powerful noise suppression algorithms for use in the most extreme acoustic noise environments including battlefields and helicopters. The algorithms use Jawbone's two microphones and the VAS (Voice Activity Sensor) to accurately model the noise environment. Jawbone detects when and how a person is speaking, models the noise, and aggressively eliminates it. Conventional "noise eliminating" headsets do not have the VAS and can only estimate when speech is occurring with software-based Voice Activation Detection (VAD) systems. For these systems to work, the speech must be significantly louder or spectrally different from the noise. These systems fail in loud environments or in the presence of other people's speech. Furthermore, because they can't accurately identify the speech signals, they distort the speech in the process of attempting to eliminate the noise. The result of this distortion is a significant degradation in intelligibility and quality in order to achieve a perceptual reduction in noise.

The ear piece never stayed against my face so the person on the other end could never hear me correctly.

I don't doubt that the Jawbone is great if you can get it to work. But for a busy person, it is unacceptably flawed. I have read people taking 4 hours to get theirs to work right. For an attorney making $200/hour, that's like paying $800 for a bluetooth headset. I returned this and went with the Plantronics Voyager 510--super cheap and works great! Gonna buy a second since they're so cheap.

I found this headset to be a major disappointment. Unlike other headsets I've owned, it won't stay paired to my Treo. The sound is inconsistent, and people have had significant problems hearing me on the streets of NYC. It's not the worst headset I've owned, but I'm already searching for a better solution.

This is the best headset I have ever used. It fits perfectly, it is easy to use and the sound is incredible. I would recommend it to everyone, especially to those that have had old type units that don't provide good sound or fit. In the past I have had trouble finding earsets that stay on, and this one fits like a glove. Bravo...

I have used a sub $30 jabra bt125 for the past year and have been very happy with its performance. My friends however would complain about the sound quality so I wanted something with noise cancellation. The jawbone has been unanimously the top pick from every source I can find. The ratings for this unit are either manufactured or provided by people who are more enamoured with the look than the functionality.
While others tell me that they can hear me fairly well, the audio I get is scratchy, and not very loud (using with iphone). The buttons are completely conceled and when I try to adjust the unit get inadvertently pressed, cutting people off. Trying to use the buttons is extremely awkward.
I am going to try the plantronics discovery 925 which a friend tells me is working very well for him.
I guess if you think the jawbone is too cool looking to pass up then be my guest but functionally this thing is a joke.
