I got this sleeping bag for a January hike in the Adirondacks. I have used it on two such hikes, and it was comfortable even in 10F weather. There is a chest draw string, and I went deep enough into the sleeping back to close that string over my head on the 10F night. The reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is that this bag packs rather large. I have a 75L Gregory pack, which can fit an adult, and I still usually attach the sleeping bag to the outside. The fact that it's synthetic means it will insulate even when it's wet. The down bags are about 10 times as expensive, but also pack 10 times smaller. I would buy this bag again.

Finally got to use my new bag. Was pretty comfortable on an 18 F night. Roomy enough and closed down pretty tight. It was a little chilly on the bottom on the sub freezing nights (even with a pad), but comfortable enough. On a 40 F night, I had to unzip it, cause it was cooking me!
One thing I didn't like was that the zipper would get stuck in the fabric when unzipping it- it was supposed to have a feature to prevent that. Another thing, if it unzips all the way, the entire zipper falls open and you have to "re-attach" the zipper pull to the zipper(its made to unzip and mate with another bag- I added a safety pin zipper stop).
Overall, a warm, fairly roomy well designed bag for very cold weather. Well worth the $59.99 I paid in September2006. Unzip it and it works for milder weather as well. I wouldn't recommend it for the early fall or summer because it will have to be used unzipped, allowing air drafts.

There is a group of us that came once a omonth and decided last fall to start doing it year round. I had an old slumberjack zero degree bag but I used it and froze. I picked this bag up to use early last spring. It got down to about 10 degrees on the next trip and I was SWEATING inside the bag. once I cracked open the zipper a little I wa sfine. Great if you need a good warm bag! I was able to stuff my jacket and spare clothes in the pocket and it worked as an awesome pillow.
I'd always loved Eureka tents, but now I'm a fan of their sleeping bags also!
